Game Tools Firm Unity Secures $5.5 Million in Funding
Unity Technologies has secured Series A financing of $5.5 million. The investment round was led by Sequoia Capital and the financing round also included David Gardner, the CEO of Atari, and Diane Greene, founder and former CEO of VMware. Unity is a development platform consisting of a 3D game engine in a software package focused on browser games, iPhone and Nintendo Wii games. The Unity platform is currently used in games such as Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online by Electronic Arts, the Quest for R2D2 by LEGO and FusionFall by Cartoon Networks. Earlier this year, Unity for iPhone was released and more than 325 games are using the Unity engine.
